Week of May 12th - 15th

lundi le 12 mai, 2014

Dear families,

Today we started the week with some colourful textured art in the style of Eric Carle, the author and illustrator of the book "A Very Hungry Catarpillar". Students are watching our caterpillars (les chenilles) grow and they will soon form a cocoon. The next few weeks wil be exciting as we observe them like real scientists and draw what we see in our journals.

Our letter this week is W and w. New words we are learning starting with this letter are: un wagon, un walkie-talkie and un wigwam (teepee). We are also reviewing all the French letters and the sounds they make in isolation (g, r, e). This helps us as we learn to read and sound out words we see in the classroom and in our books.

In Math we are reviewing basic 2-D shapes and learning how they differ from 3-D shapes. We will also be practicing basic addition up to 10 and continue to review counting up to 30.

Mark your calendars because there is no school this Friday, May 16th (PRO-D day), and no school on Monday, May19th (Victoria Day).

Have a wonderful long weekend,

Mme Elise
