Week of May 25th - 29th

Chers familles de Division 6,

In preparation for the end of term 3, students are working hard by learning some new concepts, doing review and getting ready for some assessments in French, English and Math. In French this week, students are writing a short story entitled "Une aventure avec mon animal" (An adventure with my animal). Afterwards if time permits this week, students will begin writing their last pen pal letter of the year (otherwise we will do this next week). We are continuing to practice applying the imperfect and passé composé verb tenses in our writing. Practice, practice, practice! This week, students will also be applying their reading and reading comprehension strategies by reading a story and answering questions.

In English, students are continuing to learn how to identify, sound out and apply short vowel sounds to their writing. Students will also be applying their reading and reading comprehension skills to text and answering questions. This will help assess their approximate end of grade 3 English reading level.

In Math, review is continuing in 2-D and 3-D geometric shapes, fractions, measurement and arithmetic. In preparation for our end-of-term test, booklets will be coming home for completion. Please correct anything circled in red and return to school. Also, we will soon be measuring our heights to see how many centimeters we have grown in grade 3!

In Science and in the computer lab, students are continuing to work on their PowerPoint projects. In Social Studies we are continuing to learn about our provinces and their unique features. In Gym, we are polishing up our dance, playing games with Mr James' grade 3 class and keeping our bodies healthy with regular jogs around the school. This exercise helps us focus when working hard in the classroom.

And finally, on Friday May 26th, we are looking forward to part 2 of 2 visits from local artist Renee Sala. She will be helping us finish our school-wide Friendship Flat Art project. These beautiful flags will be used to decorate Quadra throughout our 100th birthday celebrations.

Passez une belle semaine! Mme Garcin
