Nov 4th- Nov 8th

Dear families,

Our colour this week is blue (bleu) and we are continuing to practice finding and writing the letter A and a. We are also practicing to write and identify quantities from 0-10. In sciences, we are vising the Royal BC museum on Wednesday to explore the natural and human history of our province. We are also starting to do weekly science experiments. Sometimes, I may send a yellow science duotang home. If your child comes home with this duotang, help them choose one experiment and try it at home. Please return it to school within the same week and your child can present their findings. These are often very simple experiments. For example, there is an evaporation experiment where you leave a jar of water with tape at the water level and leave it on the window sill for 3-4 days. Predict and observe like real scientists! What will happen? Will the water level rise or fall? Why?

Tuesday is photo Re-take Day. This is for students who were absent or need a better photo taken. On Wednesday we are going to the museum all-day. We are leaving right after the morning bell, as soon as all the buses arrive. If your child arrives late, they can spend the day in another Kindergarten class. I have ordered bagged lunches for hot lunch students. I hope the lunches will be available first thing in the morning, but it would be a good idea for hot lunch students to bring lots of snacks because we are getting lots of exercise on our field trip!

On Friday there is a special school-wide ceremonial Remembrance Day assembly. It is in the gym from 10:40am-11:30am. Everyone is welcome and students who are in cubs, brownies, guides and scouts are all invited to wear their uniforms to school.

One last thing. Due to problems that have arisen, we have a new school-wide policy of no toys at Quadra school (this includes stuffies). The only exception is for Show and Tell. In this case, toys are to be kept in the backpack all day except during Show and Tell. Please remind students this new rule before leaving for school. Division 16 has a variety of toys in the classroom and students are allowed to bring a small blanket or towel for comfort during quiet time. For their convenience, students can leave these blankets at school until the end of the year.

A la prochaine! Elise
