Dear families,
This week students are doing a variety of new activities and some review. Today we had a special One woman Circus show in the gym! Today we also reviewed math and space concepts we have been doing since the end of September. We will have a quiz in both of these subjects this week. Afterwards in Math, we are continuing with multiplication by looking for patterns and strategies of up to 5 times 5. We are also integrating Science and Social Studies by learning about constellations and their First Nations legends.
In Language Arts we are learning to find and identify the subject, verb and noun of a sentence. Meanwhile, looking to see how the verb is conjugated in the present tense. We are learning songs to help us remember verb conjugations ending in -er , -re and -ir. We are also beginning to correct the spelling, punctuation, sentence structure and verb conjugations of our stories.
In both French and English, students are reading independently and one-on-one with me, as I give them specific feedback on their reading fluency, pronunciation and comprehension.
In Art, students have picked up their paint brushes and blended paint to create all the secondary and tertiary colours using the three primary colours. They have also been exploring abstract art using lines, shapes, directions and colour. Our sewing activity scheduled for last week has been postponed until further notice.
Last week outside we played four goal soccer. Students are applying their kicking, passing and receiving skills on the field. We will continue this unit both indoors and outdoors (as long as the weather stays beautiful!).
As usual, our dictée will be on Thursday. Please note, there is no school on Friday, Nov 21 this week, therefore remember to return and/or renew your library books on Thursday this week.
Take care and have a wonderful week! Mme Garcin
