Week of Nov 18th - 21st

lundi le 18 novembre, 2013

Bonjour!

Today we had a presentation by Sharlene from the Victoria Public Library. She shared some samples of all the different sorts of things we can borrow, such as books, movies, games and more! Tomorrow we will have a special visit from Pamela Bourque, our Indigenous support staff and counselor. She will be doing some drumming and a beading activity with us in the afternoon. Please note that Friday is a PRO-D day and there will be no school for students.

We are busy learning new things in all subject areas. In Language Arts (French) we are sounding out, writing and learning to identify the letter C and c this week. We are doing having fun learning both the "k" and "s" sounds of this letter with the Alphabet Rap song, and our opera voices. Our colour this week is rose (pink). We use magnetic letters to spell the words, do colour collages and look for it in our environment to help us remember what is looks and sounds like. In Science today we did our first experiment (sink vs float). We learned to gather our materials, make predictions, follow the steps, observe our findings, and discuss our results. Our yellow Science duotang is now travelling from home to home so that students can try one at home and share their experiment at school. Please return the duotang and material back to school as soon as you finish the experiment and I can make sure your materials are returned in your child's backpack. In Math, we are continuing to count up to 10 and 20, as well as find ABAB patterns in our environment and relate numbers 1-10 with their respective quantities.

Daily, students are practicing their routines, exploring their environment through free play and expressing their creative sides through dance, art and song.

Enjoy your week, sunshine is on its way!
