Week of Dec 8th - 12th

lundi le 8 décembre, 2014

Chers familles de division 6,

As holidays are approaching, many of our units are ending and we are starting new ones. Our next unit in Physical Activity (PE) will be hockey, and in Social Studies we are learning all about maps. In Math we are doing a variety of word problems where students have to read and figure out how to solve the problem, whether is be to add, subtract or multiply. This week in Math we are starting division as well!

In French Language Arts students are busy writing, writing and writing! Planet post cards are in the mail, constellation legends are posted in the class and our Doncaster pen pals letters are almost finished. Capitol letters, punctuation, spelling and grammar are all things we are working on in our written work. This week, students are going to begin writing a letter to Santa in English.

In Art last Friday, students created some beautiful angels and snowflakes. As a class, together we also made a beautiful tree from paper hand cut-outs and a very long paper chain to add to our classroom decorations! This Friday we will do more fun crafts. If anyone would like to come and volunteer from recess until lunch, send me an email. Come and visit our classroom to see you work!

By the way, we have an exciting Story Theatre performance in the gym on Wednesday this week, from 1-2pm.

Mark your calendars...

In Music, students are working hard to learn their ukulele song for the Winter Concert next week. Come and join us for this exciting school-wide event on Wednesday, Dec 17th from 1-2pm in the school gym.

Please drop off your clean household items/jewelry/toys/donations for the Loonie Emporium in the school Foyer by Wednesday this week (Dec10th). Ensure your child brings his/her sealed and labeled envelope with money inside (max 4 items), AND a few bags (cloth bags are the best!) by Thursday morning. We are going to the Loonie Emporium as a class on Thursday from 9:45 -10:20am. If you and/or your child would like to buy more items, please accompany them in the gym after school. Thank you to the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) for organizing this exciting event!

That's all for now, have a wonderful week, Mme Garcin
